Say goodbye to annoying telemarketing calls

Unwelcome telemarketing calls can be really annoying. Thanks to the local.ch app, you can block these nuisance calls. In addition, the app can display the caller ID of Swiss businesses, even if you haven’t saved their details in your contact list.

The local.ch app can help you to protect yourself from annoying telemarketing calls or identify who is calling you quickly and easily.

Block unwelcome telemarketing calls
We’ve all been there: the phone rings, and a voice tries to sell you that perfect, unique product that you absolutely need to have, or the latest service that will make your life so much easier. These calls usually happen after working hours, as the call centres reckon that this is their best opportunity.

Thanks to the “Block telemarketing calls” function in the local.ch app, annoying and unwelcome telemarketing calls are a thing of the past. The telemarketing blocker automatically blocks incoming calls from numbers that have been identified and listed as call centres based on certain criteria.

It’s easy to activate this function:

iOS:
  1. Open your iPhone's “Settings”
  2. Tap on “Phone”
  3. Tap on “Call Blocking & Identification”
  4. Activate call blocking on local.ch

Android:
  1. Open the local.ch app
  2. Open the menu
  3. Select “Settings”
  4. Activate “Mute telemarketing calls” (if the app requests permissions, you must give them)

You will find more information, as well as a brochure about “unwelcome telemarketing calls”, on the website of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO.

Give yourself added protection with a starred listing (*)
A starred listing (*) works in the same way as the well-known “no advertising” stickers on letterboxes. You can add an annotation, in this case a star, to your listing on local.ch, as well as your listing in the localGUIDE. This notifies advertising companies that they may not make any calls to non-customers. Call centres that are affiliated with the CallNet.ch industry association have been abiding by the starred listing system for years.

You can register a starred listing as follows:
  1. Access your own listing on local.ch
  2. Under “More”, select “Change listing”
  3. Under “Main contact”, activate the “No advertising” field

If you don’t have a listing on local.ch yet, you can register for one quickly and easily here.

Alternatively, people who don’t have a directory listing on local.ch can protect their telephone number using a platform provided by SDV (Swiss Dialogue Marketing Association). These details will be added to the official telephone blocking list of the CallNet.ch association.

Identify which company is calling you
Thanks to the “Identify business number” function, you’ll always see which company has tried to contact you – even if their number is not saved in your contact list.

This is especially helpful if you’ve ordered goods, for example, and you’re waiting for a pickup call from the store. These calls usually come in when you’re working, in meetings, or for any other reason can’t answer the phone. Thanks to the business number identification service, your call list will not only show you the number, but also the name of the company that called.

It’s easy to activate this function:

iOS:
  1. Open the local.ch app
  2. Tap on “More”
  3. Tap on “Call Blocking & Identification”
  4. Activate “Identify business numbers”
Android:
  1. Open the local.ch app
  2. Open the menu
  3. Select “Settings”
  4. Activate “Incoming calls” (if the app requests permissions, you must give them)

Download the local.ch app today and protect yourself from annoying telemarketing calls.
